REGISTER TO ATTEND RESACON 2023
Join Max Ruthven at RESACON where she will be discussing the meaning/psychology of color in depth and how certain color combinations and different tonal values could impact human behavior or change the mood in a room. Cultural and religious differences will also be discussed to ensure that your designs are appropriate and respectful for all clients.

This RESACON session will provide valuable insights to not only enhance your home staging and interior design skills but also how to understand your client on a much deeper level.

What home stagers and designers can expect from this RESACON session:

  • Understand the physiological reaction in our bodies to color (hormonal reactions such as raising blood pressure, nervous, anxiety, joy calmness etc.)
  • Understand how color can affect human behavior (negative, positive).
  • How to create a certain mood with using color combinations and tonal values effectively.
  • Understand the importance of cultural and religious differences when working with a client.

Who is Max Ruthven?

Max has been certified as a Color Consultant since 2012 when she did her first training in Vancouver, Canada, with Maria Killam. She realized very soon that there is much more to color than what she learned in those 3 days and to be a real color expert, she decided to be trained by more experts in the industry. She received her training in the Psychology of Color by a true and well-known, well-respected Color Expert, Leatrice Eiseman, Director of the Pantone Color Institute. She also successfully completed both levels of training as an Architectural Color Consultant, given by Teresa Tullio, Business of Color.

By now the obsession became real and she did the Color with Confidence course, created by JoAnne Lenart-Weary and in 2019 she completed the Scientifically approached Color Training by Color Expert, Lori Sawaya. Max is also a proud HSR graduate.

In 2010 she was nominated as one of the Rising Star Home Stagers by RESA®, but the color bug won the battle! Just to add to her list of formal trainings, she decided to gain more insight into the formal world of Interior Design, in order to communicate effectively and make educated decisions, so she completed a year- long Interior Decorating course through QC Design School.

Max was born in South Africa, but moved to the US with her husband in 2001, working as an Operating Room Nurse in LA. From the medical field to a creative field. Just goes to show, anyone can learn a new skill! She now lives in Austin, Texas and is focusing solely on being the go-to Color Expert!
